Here is the version 2 of the HNK movie. This version fixes many typos and corrects the AR issue in the first release. It does not fix the issue with VLC's order chapters. To play the video in VLC, disable ordered chapters.
To disable ordered chapters, go into the options and enable all options at the bottom. Then go to Input/Codecs->Demuxers->Matroska disable ordered chapters. You can still see the alternate ending by skipping to the end after the credits.
This release has a completely new higher quality encode. Hence the enlarged file size.
At last, it is finally done. After months of being lazy, I worked hard this June to complete this. Here is the original HnK movie remastered version with both English and Portuguese subtitles.
Thanks to HNK Team for the Portuguese subtitles and Arara for a helping hand with the English script.
This dual audio encode includes BOTH the original theatrical ending and the Japanese home video ending (Raoh wins and draw endings). Utilizing the more advance features of matsroka (ordered chapters) you can, using Haali Media Splitter on windows, switch between the two endings in any DirectShow compatible player. Any player that does not support ordered chapters can still view the alternate ending by skipping the to the end of the video after the credits.
Please note that the home video ending was never dubbed. Therefore the Japanese audio is spliced into the English track. A second "Home Video Ending Only" subtitle was included for use with the English audio track and the home video ending.
There seems to be some issues getting this video to work. The AR in MPC/ZP is wrong (might not affect everyone) and playback in VLC doesn't work at all.
The pixel AR (PAR/SAR) is set to 239/270. Mathematically at a resolution of 720x478 this results in a playback resolution of 720x540 (DAR 4/3). In MPC, when the video loads, it actually loads at this AR. Then it immediately switches back to 1/1 for unknown reasons. This only occurs at the beginning of the video. If you resume from somewhere else, it maintains the correct AR. You could force a resize to correct the AR or disable "Allow output format changes during playback" in the output options of ffdhow to work around the issue.
The only true fix I know of is it remux the video with AR 239/269. This will work correctly. A v2 is coming.
Playback in VLC seems to be failing because it has a different or faulty implementation of ordered chapters (I cannot get it to work correctly with any of my ordered chapter encodes).
